Medication Policy

For the safety and long-term well-being of our patients, Foster Minds Psychiatry maintains a cautious and evidence-based approach to controlled substances. While we typically avoid prescribing benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Ativan, or Klonopin) and stimulant medications (such as Adderall or Ritalin) due to their high potential for dependence and misuse, your provider may prescribe a controlled substance when clinically appropriate and when it is determined to be the safest and most effective option for your condition.

Our focus is always on individualized, responsible care. We prioritize safer, proven treatment options, including non-addictive medications, behavioral strategies, and therapeutic interventions, to effectively manage anxiety, ADHD, and related conditions, reserving controlled substances for cases where they are clearly indicated and can be used safely under close monitoring.
